“Faceless” accounts post videos or images without showing the creator, often using AI to write scripts, create voices or generate visuals. Online guides present them as easy passive income. Here is a more careful view of what is realistic.

What the hustle is

You create short videos such as stories, facts, tips or slideshows with AI tools, post them regularly and aim to earn from ads, affiliate links or selling a service. The appeal is obvious: no camera, no showing your face and a lot of content produced quickly.

Why it is crowded

Commentary on 2026 describes the low-effort end of this world, such as generic AI videos and mass-produced posts, as saturated. If an idea is easy enough that thousands of people copy it, it is hard to stand out.

Platform risks

  • Platforms can limit reach or monetisation for repetitive, low-effort or misleading content.
  • Many platforms ask you to label AI-generated content, so check each one’s current rules.
  • Accounts can be demonetised or removed with little warning, and you do not own your audience.

Realistic expectations

Reported timelines for decent income are around three to six months of daily work, and many people earn little or nothing. Per-view payouts are small (see our payout guide), so the money usually has to come from affiliate sales or client work instead.

What can work

  • A clear niche and genuine usefulness, rather than just volume
  • Adding your own voice, fact-checking and editing to anything AI produces
  • Selling a service, such as short-form video for small businesses, rather than relying on views

The last point is the most reliable. A small business will pay for videos that save it time, and that income does not depend on an algorithm.

How to test the idea cheaply

If you still want to try a faceless account, set a limit before you start so it does not quietly eat months of your time. Give yourself 30 days, post a fixed number of videos and note views, follows, clicks and any money earned. Use free or low-cost tools, and avoid paying for a course or a “system” that promises to automate everything. Keep your own notes on what you changed, so you can tell whether a result came from the idea or from luck. At the end of the month, be honest about the results. If nothing is growing, change the niche or the format once, then stop if it still is not working. A short, disciplined test costs very little, while an open-ended one can cost a lot of evenings for no return.

Our verdict

Faceless accounts are not a scam, but they are not passive or easy either. Treat AI as a time-saving tool rather than a money machine, and be wary of anyone selling a course on how to get rich with it.
